About Hanna Virdarson
Based in the quiet landscapes of Sweden, I create dark fantasy illustration and narrative art that blends the whimsical with the macabre. My work is inspired by spooky stories, natural anatomy, and Nordic folklore.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design (2018), and also studied at Idun Lovén Konstskola in Stockholm. This training shaped both my traditional technique and my focus on narrative character development.
I work primarily in gouache, watercolor, and mixed media, creating intimate scenes, fantasy characters, and atmospheric environments. I’m drawn to playful color, emotional storytelling, and the tension between the sweet and the unsettling.
Today I balance personal exploration with professional projects. View my latest work in the Illustration Gallery, explore Character Art, or get in touch about custom commissions.
